
Early Wednesday morning, Alameda firefighters tackled a fire at a commercial building on Bay Farm Island, authorities reported. The Alameda Fire Department posted on social media that a commercial structure on the 2000 block of Harbor Bay Parkway was ablaze, with the initial call coming in just before 5 a.m.
Firefighting crews, having responded swiftly to the scene, contained the fire to an exterior mechanical hopper. "The blaze has been contained to an exterior mechanical hopper," firefighters wrote, detailing their effective response to the potentially devastating situation, as reported by Patch.
No injuries were reported in the incident. All of the business's employees were safely evacuated, with the fire department stating on Facebook that crews remained on site, working to overhaul the system and fully extinguish the fire.
Local residents watched on, as the firefighters expertly battled the flames, ensuring the conflagration did not spread further into the commercial district. The official update from the fire department was given a stamp of reassurance: "All occupants inside the structure were safely evacuated," according to a Facebook post by the Alameda Fire Department.
