A wild chase through Fort Worth streets ended in chaos Saturday night when an alleged drunk driver hit two pedestrians and another vehicle while trying to dodge police. The Fort Worth Police Department confirmed the incident unfolded at the intersection of University Dr. and Bailey Ave.
Officers tried to pull over the suspect, now identified as 29-year-old Andrew Guerra, suspected of intoxication behind the wheel. According to NBC DFW, the situation escalated when Guerra failed to quickly comply, leading to a pursuit. It was during this flight from law enforcement that Guerra struck the two individuals and collided with another vehicle.
The aftermath of the ordeal was described by a local woman working in the vicinity, who spoke to CBS News Texas. "I just hear what sounded like an explosion and then I look up past the building here and I see a bunch of smoke," she recounted. "I just see people running so I run towards it I see a woman on the sidewalk screaming that she's in pain and that everything hurts, I see a man laid out."
The Fort Worth PD swiftly apprehended the suspect post-collision, while emergency teams transported the injured parties to local hospitals in stable condition. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed in detail, but the concern from the scene was palpable as first responders worked to secure and tend to those impacted. The incident is another stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals who choose to recklessly operate vehicles while under the influence of intoxicants.
