Two alleged gang members found themselves in handcuffs this week after a patrol in stolen vehicles took a turn for the worse near a Bexar County Sheriff's Office promotional event. The suspects, identified as 18-year-old Leah Campos and 25-year-old Destiny Ferdin, tried to shake off gang unit deputies by ducking into an apartment complex, but law enforcement wasn’t fooled, patiently lying in wait outside. According to KSAT, the pair emerged from their hideout about five minutes later only to find deputies ready to pounce.

Campos, behind the wheel of the stolen black KIA Forte, now faces charges for possession of a controlled substance and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Riding shotgun, Ferdin was slapped with an active Class B Misdemeanor warrant for a theft amounting to less than $750. Following the swift arrest, the two were transported to Bexar County jail, while the KIA Forte is set to be returned to its rightful owner, "the BCSO said."

The series of unfortunate events for local gang members didn't end there. In a separate incident reported on the same day, another pair of suspected gang-affiliated men were arrested after a high-speed chase ensued through Northeast Bexar County. With speeds hitting a nerve-racking 90 mph, the chase screeched to a halt when the law's spike strips sent their stolen truck spinning into a tree. Despite attempting to flee on foot, both men were quickly nabbed by deputies on the scene, suffering only minor injuries in the process, KSAT reported.

The aftermath of the crash, which unearthed not just a stolen vehicle but also drugs, wheels, tires, and lug nuts, suggested these suspects may have been involved in more than just spirited driving. Law enforcement, who have yet to release the identities and ages of the said suspects, believe the cache of vehicle parts indicates the pair's involvement in thefts.
