An Arizona woman has been taken into custody after a sting operation aimed at tackling prostitution and sex trafficking. Brianna Christine Slocum, 26, was apprehended following an escape attempt from law enforcement officers after she was allegedly caught agreeing to provide sexual services for pay.
According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the sting was part of a "multi-agency proactive operation" that focused on "contacting adult women who provide sexual contact in exchange for money or other forms of compensation." The Scottsdale Police Department's Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit, known as HEAT, coordinated efforts to identify and potentially rescue victims of sex trafficking.
As detailed in the court documents, an ad on a website frequented for prostitution and escort services led a HEAT detective to Slocum. The interaction via video chat involved sexually explicit acts, where Slocum verified the identity of the undercover officer by requesting to see a prosthetic private part, after expressing her concerns over conversing with police. "The operation focused on contacting adult women who offer sexual contact in exchange for money or other forms of compensation, as well as adult offenders who may be trafficking these women or facilitating acts of prostitution, sex buyers and adults who wish to become involved in sexual activity with juveniles," revealed a portion of the court documents obtained by Clement Media.
Following the agreed-upon arrangement, Slocum was directed to a residence near 104th Street and McDowell Mountain Ranch Road. However, she unexpectedly departed the scene when another sex worker arrived. A subsequent attempt by a Goodyear Police detective to apprehend Slocum was futile, as she fled from him when he tried to open her car door. Slocum's luck ran out when she was arrested on January 27 in the area of 68th Street and Osborn.
Slocum is facing charges of misdemeanor prostitution and felony unlawful flight from law enforcement, with her bond set at $3,500. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 6, where the circumstances leading to her arrest will be further evaluated.
