
A man reportedly armed with two knives was shot and killed by Hays County Sheriff's deputies following a confrontation last Friday, officials said. The incident, which unfolded around 8 a.m., began when deputies were called to a residence in the 100 block of Hunter Creek Cove, where a man was said to be attempting to forcefully enter the home.
Upon arriving at the scene, the deputies encountered a white male, identified as the ex-boyfriend of the homeowner's daughter, wielding a knife in each hand. Officials stated that deputies repeatedly commanded the man to drop the knives, but he did not. The encounter escalated quickly, with two deputies firing their guns, and striking the individual. Both the deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave, following standard protocol. Dripping Springs News reported.
The man received emergency medical treatment from both the deputies and arriving EMS personnel, but despite their efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office, with the Texas Rangers' assistance, is now handling the criminal investigation into the fatal shooting. In a news release, the sheriff's office informed that every measure was provided to save the man's life.
The identity of the deceased has not been publicly released as the investigation continues. The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward.
