The family of a slain Midtown Atlanta security guard, Sha'Darrian Jacobs, is crying out for justice and the capture of three more suspects connected to his death. Marion'Taye Holloman, 18, made a court appearance yesterday, where footage linking him to the killing was displayed. As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the shooting incident took place on Aug. 28, 2023, in a parking garage near Third and Spring streets. Holloman is currently charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a person under 18, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Jacobs, 33, who would have turned 34 on Tuesday, was working as a security guard and was on his lunch break when he was fatally struck. "It hurts so bad. It hurt bad. I miss my son so much," said Velma Jacobs, the victim's mother, in a heart-wrenching interview obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta. Jacobs' mother was set to spend what would have been his birthday at the cemetery, rather than celebrating with her son, her emotions laid bare as the trial progresses.
A separate report by Atlanta News First detailed that a Fulton County magistrate judge found probable cause to keep Holloman incarcerated. Surveillance footage shown in court connected Holloman to the crime scene. A detailed testimony from an Atlanta homicide detective revealed that after recovering a Chevy Malibu suspected of involvement in the shooting, GPS logs were used to track the vehicle's movements on the night of Jacobs' death, leading to several locations visited by Holloman.
"He won’t be able to have any kids, or get married. Now, he won’t have a birthday with me. He just won’t won’t. He just won’t," Velma Jacobs expressed in an interview with Atlanta News First. Meanwhile, the defense argued that Holloman's face wasn't visible in the parking garage video and pointed out that the clothing he wore matched that of many others. Despite these arguments, the judge ruled that the evidence provided enough grounds to keep Holloman behind bars pending a grand jury's decision on his indictment.
The tragic loss has impacted the Jacobs family, who now seek closure and justice. "It hurts. It really hurts. And it's just not fair to my family or me," said Velma Jacobs in a heartbroken plea. Jacobs’ family has appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects, with a $2,000 reward offered for tips that result in an arrest, as per the information provided by FOX 5 Atlanta.
