Attleboro gas station was hit by an armed robbery early Thursday morning when a man wielding a gun made off with cash, local police said. The robbery occurred at the Mobil gas station on Newport Avenue at approximately 12:20 a.m., according to NBC Boston.
Authorities reported that the perpetrator, described as short in stature, was sporting a black North Face puffy jacket and a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled up. The suspect, who also wore a white mask and dark-colored gloves, showed up at the convenience store brandishing a semiautomatic handgun, the clerk, who faced the man's demands for money, recounted to police.
The clerk handed over an undisclosed sum of cash to the robber, who then swiftly exited the location and entered the passenger side of a dark-colored sedan, which was possibly a Toyota, as per police reports. The getaway car was spotted fleeing west on Collins Street toward Washington Street.
Police are on the hunt for the gun-toting thief, with the Attleboro Police Department urging anyone with information to step forward. Deputy Police Chief Timothy Cook Jr. noted in a statement obtained by the publication that the suspect had demanded the cash register's contents.
