Austin's own legendary director Robert Rodriguez is set to be immortalized on the streets he's helped define. The Paramount Theatre has announced plans to honor Rodriguez with a star on their exclusive "Avenue of Paramount Stars." Celebrated for box-office hits like the "Spy Kids" series and "Sin City," Rodriguez joins an elite group of Texas luminaries that have left an indelible mark on Austin's cultural landscape, as per KXAN.
The unveiling of Rodriguez's star, scheduled for May 25, is expected to attract a slew of fans and special guests. As part of the event, which aligns with the theatre's Summer Classic Film Series kickoff, the public is warmly invited to take part. Rodriguez, never shy to showcase his homegrown loyalty, is renowned for premiering most of his films at the Paramount Theatre, a gesture that has firmly established his roots in Texas soil.
The Paramount Theatre's Walk of Fame is a homage to Texans who've made significant contributions to the state's artistic scene, especially through historic venues like itself. The star will be positioned beneath the marquee, joining the ranks of other Texas greats, including musicians Jerry Jeff Walker, Lyle Lovett, and Delbert McClinton, among others, according to KXAN.
"What a tremendous honor to be receiving from the Paramount Theatre," Rodriguez said. He expresses his deep connection to the venue and its patrons: "The audience is always incredible, making movies feel like rock concerts. I am humbled by the recognition and thrilled to be so officially associated with my favorite theatre in the world in such an incredible, grand way," as stated in KXAN.
