Violence erupted in the early hours of Sunday at a game room on 9411 Parkfield Drive, resulting in a deadly shooting that claimed the lives of two men and left another injured. The Austin Police Department reported that officers responded to the scene after receiving multiple calls around 4:46 a.m., discovering two unresponsive victims with gunshot wounds, according to official statements.
The deceased were identified as Deondre Flint and Jamie Davis, both later pronounced dead while a third individual was rushed to hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. The altercation began after Davis and his girlfriend were ejected from the premises, leading to a physical confrontation between Davis's girlfriend and a female employee in the parking lot. As the situation escalated, gunfire was exchanged between Davis and the game room's security, culminating in Flint - a security worker - being fatally shot by Davis, and Davis succumbing to bullets fired by another member of the security team.
In the aftermath, Austin homicide detectives and crime scene specialists combed through the evidence, piecing together the harrowing events of that fateful night. The Travis County District Attorney's Office reviewed the case and has since ruled the response by the security employee justified, opting not to press charges at the current juncture of their investigation.
As the community grapples with the shock and the Austin Police continue their inquiry, they urge anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program, more details of which can be found on their website or by dialing 512-472-8477.
