
The search for Austin Pets Alive!'s stolen van came to a close after the vehicle was found abandoned at a local 7-Eleven. The van, which plays a critical role in transporting and saving the lives of thousands of pets, was reported stolen early Monday morning from the shelter located in downtown Austin.
The theft occurred around 3:55 a.m. when an unidentified man was said to have smashed through the gates of the shelter's facility on Cesar Chavez Street. Austin Pets Alive! quickly filed a police report following the incident and turned to the public to quickly help locate the van, according to CBS Austin.,
Fortune favored the beloved pet rescue's cause when a social media tip led to the recovery of the van. A community member spotted the vehicle at the 7-Eleven at the corner of Lamar and Barton Skyway and alerted the organization. Luis Sanchez of APA! confirmed, "Someone left a comment on social media saying they spotted the van at the gas station," as per KXAN.
The Austin Police Department responded to the scene where local photojournalist Todd Bailey, following up on the social media tip, captured the moment the van was found. Despite the van's retrieval, details on the suspect's apprehension remain unclear.
