Despite the slide, Leander remains popular, with attributes including "accessible to a major metro, availability of newly built homes for those who want something more turnkey, and strong school districts," as Opendoor's brokerage lead, Jackson Upchesaw, stated by the Austin Business Journal.
The assessment is also grounded in Opendoor's report, which states that home values in Leander’s ZIP code 78641 dropped by 11.1 percent over the last year, with homes currently hovering around the average value of $447,924. This situation potentially makes the area more appealing, especially for those wishing to move away from the city bustle without sacrificing modern conveniences. As Opendoor points out from their data, "homes purchased in our top neighborhoods reflect the desire of homeowners to head to towns with convenient amenities instead of the congestion of bigger cities," per CultureMap Austin.
Even as Leander sees some adjustment, Texas remains a housing market powerhouse, with locations such as Cypress and Katy near Houston, grabbing the top spots on the list of hottest ZIP codes.
