Winter's chill is putting a freeze on the schedules of area schools, parents, and students as the Austin Independent School District has announced a two-hour delay for all classes, buses, and offices tomorrow – a move made in anticipation of inclement weather. The decision aims to ensure the safety of everyone in the district during the expected winter snap.
Students accustomed to bandaging the morning sleep from their eyes for a 7:40 a.m. commencement will find reprieve – classes are set to start at the later time of 9:40 a.m. Buses too, will follow this shifted timeline, giving roads, and those upon them, a moment to thaw in the morning light. The AISD's pivot to a late start brings with it a policy of excusing any tardy arrivals or absences that are a byproduct of the weather and subsequent traffic delays, according to Austin ISD.
Families in need of further clarification on the temporary changes, or seeking specific information on how these delays impact their children's transportation arrangements, are encouraged to get in touch with the AISD's Transportation Department at 512-414-0238, operational from 7:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Additionally, for the most current updates on weather-related schedule changes, the district recommends visiting its website or following its social media presence.
