Tragedy struck on a quiet road in Santa Rosa yesterday when a female bicyclist perished after crashing into a fallen tree. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Timber Cove Fire Department responded to the incident, which occurred around 1:22 pm on Hauser Bridge Road west of King Ridge Road, as confirmed by a statement from CHP.
While hurtling down Hauser Bridge Road, the woman, whose identity has not been released yet, was traveling at an unsafe speed. She approached a sharp bend in the road but failed to decelerate on time, resulting in her bicycle slamming into a downed tree along the precarious curve, according to details from the preliminary investigation shared by the CHP. A riding partner, having come upon the scene, reported the fatal crash.
Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at the scene, adding a sobering note to the day's events. Further information about the deceased has been withheld, with directives that inquiries should be routed to the Sonoma County Sheriff Coroner’s office.
