San Rafael Woman Cuffed for Mother's Live-Streamed Stabbing

A San Rafael woman has been arrested and charged with the fatal stabbing of her mother in a horrific family tragedy turned public spectacle. The suspect, Tonantzyn Oris Beltran, age 28, was detained by police at her apartment complex in Terra Linda after officers and paramedics who responded to a 911 call found a 55-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds, later resulting in her death, Hoodline reports.

Following her arrest on Monday afternoon, Beltran was discovered by police in what they described as a "state of shock" with her clothing stained with blood and holding a knife. The situation escalated into a standoff before officers were ultimately able to take the suspect into custody. The Marin County Coroner's Office, in concert with the San Rafael Police Department (SRPD), is conducting a homicide investigation to determine the series of events that led to the stabbing, the police disclosed.

In a disturbing twist, the crime was reportedly broadcast by the suspect over Facebook Live, leading the SRPD to work with Meta/Facebook to have the video removed out of respect for the deceased and their family members. Initially, the department did not release this detail until it was confirmed that the video had indeed been taken down, San Rafael Police Department posted.

Detectives following Beltran's digital trail, which spans multiple social media platforms, have since discovered additional video content created by her. This includes a clip filmed in the lobby of the Santa Rosa Police Department on January 8th, raising new questions about the suspect's activities before the stabbing. SRPD is now coordinating with Santa Rosa Police Department officials to scrutinize this aspect of the investigation. Calls for witnesses and information have been steady, as the local authorities seek help in piecing together this unfolding puzzle.
