Boston Police are actively investigating a shooting incident that took place on Washington Street in Dorchester, leaving one woman injured. The shooting, reported by CBS Boston, happened just before 9 p.m. at 27 Washington Street, where the woman sustained non-life threatening injuries and was subsequently hospitalized.
The incident marked a continuation of violence in the area over the holiday weekend. According to NBC10 Boston, an NBC10 Boston crew observed a significant police presence, including officers in tactical gear, surrounding an apartment unit. Despite the heavy police activity, authorities have yet to confirm any arrests directly related to the shooting.
Witness reports and law enforcement activity indicated a tense scene following the incident. A mother told NBC10 Boston that her son might become involved in the investigation as a witness. Screams were said to come from the apartment complex's back lot, indicating the disturbance that came after the gunfire.
Meanwhile, the neighborhood trauma team was present at the scene to offer support, witnessed by NBC10 Boston handing out flyers Monday night. The shooting site is nearby the location of a separate, fatal shooting that had occurred earlier the same day, highlighting a surge of violence that Boston police are tasked to urgently address.
While a vehicle seen within the yellow crime scene tape was towed later that night, police have not commented on the significance of the vehicle in the course of their investigation. With no official arrests announced, the community remains alert and apprehensive as the Boston police continue to investigate the situation.
