Breeze Airways is expanding its wings with new flights from Portland International Jetport to destinations in North Carolina and Florida, the low-cost carrier announced Tuesday. Starting May 24, Portland flyers can catch nonstop services to Raleigh-Durham International Airport and one-stop, seamless trips to Jacksonville International Airport, operating twice a week on Mondays and Fridays. Travelers can score lower introductory fares if booked by Feb. 5 for journeys until Sept. 3, joining the airline's existing routes from Charleston, South Carolina, and Tampa, Florida, The Portland Press Herald reports.

In a similar expansion move, northeast travelers will find their summer plans heating up with new routes connecting Raleigh-Durham to key cities in New England. Breeze is launching twice-weekly flights to Burlington, Vermont, Portland, Maine, and Syracuse, New York, beginning just before Memorial Day weekend and concluding on Sept. 3. According to Travel + Leisure, these flights complement the carrier's aggressive expansion at the Raleigh-Durham hub, where it began operations just under two years ago.

The airline stands out by providing unique nonstop services from Raleigh-Durham to several Northeast locales, including the exclusive route to Burlington. However, competition is brewing with Frontier Airlines to Syracuse and Portland. A Breeze spokesperson, Gareth Edmondson-Jones, told The News & Observer that flights to Burlington and Syracuse will kick off on Thursdays and Sundays starting May 23, and to Portland from May 24, promised at least through Labor Day.

Raleigh-Durham's growing airport is also attracting international attention, with Lufthansa and Aeromexico set to offer new flights to Frankfurt and Mexico City, respectively. "Raleigh-Durham and the greater Research Triangle have shown to be a fast-growing destination and origin," Breeze Airways’ President, Tom Doxey stated in a missive to Travel + Leisure. He highlighted the palpable demand in the region, further distinguishing Breeze as a carrier committed to unveiling affordable and convenient travel options.
