The curtain is set to rise on an exciting new season for theater lovers in Dallas, with Broadway Dallas unveiling their 2024/2025 offerings. In partnership with Broadway Across America, the lineup features a mix of fresh hits directly from Broadway and several beloved classics making a triumphant return. According to NBC DFW, the season promises to bring a wealth of entertaining experiences to local audiences, starting from December 3, 2024, with the musical "Shucked."
At the center of the announcement is "Shucked," a heartwarming tale set against a rural backdrop, which will be the season's opener at the Music Hall at Fair Park. The show, with its soundtrack by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnnally, joins the roster alongside other new adaptations like Peter Pan, a whimsical journey directed by Emmy winner Lonny Price. Not to be outshined, the sensational "& Juliet" flips Shakespeare on its head with hits that redefine the bard for a modern audience. These productions, alongside the returning hit "Hadestown," as noted in a schedule by Tours To You, are set to rekindle the magic of live theater in the city.
Kicking off the holiday spirit, "Peter Pan" will soar into the Music Hall right on Christmas Day, 2024, until January 5, 2025. This fresh adaptation by Larissa FastHorse seeks to capture the imaginations of both the young and the young at heart. Broadway Dallas' season also includes a bit of 1980s nostalgia with "Back to the Future: The Musical," an adaptation of the iconic Spielberg film that brings Marty McFly’s time-traveling escapades to the stage starting March 18, 2025.
As summer heats up, Disney's "The Lion King" returns from June 4 through July 13 with its breathtaking visuals and award-winning music. The immersive story of survival, "Life of Pi," based on the best-selling novel by Yann Martel, will be featured at the Winspear Opera House in August, delivering an epic tale that speaks to the resilience of the human spirit. Additionally, subscribers are tempted with a bit of enchantment as "The Wiz" brings an infusion of soul and funk to Dorothy’s journey down the yellow brick road in September.
For those eager to secure their seats, Broadway Dallas has made season tickets available now, with 7-show packages starting at a budget-friendly $245. "Our fabulous 2024/2025 season is packed with brand new Broadway hits and the return of many classics and crowd favorites," Ken Novice, President and CEO of Broadway Dallas, told NBC DFW.
