Brooklyn Park's finest have made it their mission to bolster community safety and they're doing it with a twist. In the spirit of Galentine's Day, the Brooklyn Park Police Department is hosting a Women's Personal Safety Class on February 13th. Ladies of the area are invited to partake in an evening that promises not just an education in self-defense but a chance to cement community ties.
The offer to "unlock an empowering world of strength and safety" proved to be a hit, as registration quickly reached full capacity. The class, intended to heighten confidence and awareness, was announced as a free opportunity for women who reside, work, pray, or study in Brooklyn Park. Due to the overwhelming response, the department had to swiftly close sign-ups to avoid overwhelming the class limit.
Set for 6:30pm to 8:30pm, the event is located in the Brooklyn Park PD's own training room, ensuring attendees have a secure space to engage with one another and the material. Providing a special statement, the department posted on their Facebook page, stating the class as a chance to "learn comprehensive self-defense techniques, boost your confidence and situational awareness, and bond with fellow women in your community."
For those who planned to sign up but couldn’t quite make it before the cutoff, the Brooklyn Park PD encouraged reaching out for future classes and information. The designated point of contact, Julia Brysky, was available for any follow-up questions.
