Chaos erupted in Broward County as three individuals were apprehended following a dramatic vehicle crash and subsequent escape attempt. According to Pembroke Pines police, the trio, including one adult and two juveniles, bailed out of a stolen BMW after slamming into a guardrail near the intersection of Southwest 196th Avenue and Pembroke Road, as reported by WSVN.
The incident occurred just after 9:15 a.m. Thursday and triggered a manhunt that eventually cornered and arrested the suspects. Witnesses notably reported seeing two males and one female flee into the neighboring city of Miramar. The adult suspect was identified as 26-year-old Calvin Bennett, and he alongside the juveniles is facing several charges, including grand theft.
Local authorities quickly sprang into action as the roadways in the vicinity were shut down to facilitate the search. Pembroke Pines Police explained that no information indicating the suspects had weapons was available at the time of the event. Sky 10 aerial footage captured the dark-colored sedan's wreckage and the subsequent massive police response. A SWAT vehicle and K-9 units were also deployed to assist in the operation, as reported by Local 10.
Following the urgent response – which included Miramar police officers joining the fray – the road closures were eventually lifted as the situation came under control. "Three people in custody after authorities said they fled from a BMW following a crash," stated Local 10, unveiling the end to a morning rocked by sudden criminal frenzy. Residents who had been advised to steer clear of the area were able to return to their normal routines as police wrapped up their on-site investigation.
