Authorities are on the hunt for a strong-arm robbery suspect who targeted an ice cream shop in Lauderdale Lakes, as the Broward Sheriff’s Office released chilling surveillance footage of the crime, which took place last Saturday just after 5 p.m. According to Local 10 News, detectives arrived at the Carvel on the 3600 block of West Commercial Boulevard following a robbery call.

Reports indicate that the employee described a "unknown heavyset" man, adorned in all black, entering the establishment with a blue bag and forcefully demanding cash from the cash register. "The employee stated she initially refused to comply but then opened the register out of fear after the man became verbally aggressive," as per a statement obtained by Local 10 News. The surveillance cameras captured the moment the robber reached across the counter, withdrawing hundreds of dollars before fleeing the scene.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is now appealing to the public for any information that might lead to the apprehension of the accused. The WSVN reported that after taking the money, the suspect made a getaway in a white vehicle, the make and model of which remains undisclosed. The current whereabouts of the man are unknown, and the exact amount of money taken has not been disclosed by authorities.

Officials have found parallels between this incident and another robbery that occurred in Davie, believing it possible that the same suspect could be responsible. "Detectives believe the same man may have committed a similar crime in Davie," as Local 10 News reported. Anyone with information is urged to reach out to BSO Robbery Detective Armando Enrique at 954-321-4233 or to contact Broward Crime Stoppers anonymously at 954-493-8477 where tips could lead to a reward.
