Three students from Cape Cod found themselves in a local hospital after what should have been an innocuous ride to school took a frightening turn; the trio reportedly consumed an unidentified substance that appeared to be a chocolate bar on their way to Dennis-Yarmouth Middle School, as per Superintendent Marc Smith's statement to Boston 25 News.
Though the details of the incident are still shrouded in uncertainty, it's been confirmed that the affected students are not battling critical conditions, according to Smith, the health scare nonetheless raised alarms, and the students were under hospital evaluation even as the school officials darted into action trying to unravel the mystery behind the substance ingested by the students which Smith mentioned is still under investigation, and the safety measures aboard the bus that were sidestepped in their unintended indulgence.
The Dennis-Yarmouth School Department has pledged to continue the probe into the worrying episode, affirming that they are in the process of understanding exactly what was eaten by the students that morning. Amidst the ongoing investigation, the condition of the students appears stable as they recuperated with their families. "All of the involved students were doing well as of Thursday afternoon and we were with their parents" Smith conveyed in a comment to Boston 25 News.
