Just as the new year kicked off, the Central Marin Police Department responded to a citizen's early morning distress call, successfully putting the brakes on a New Year’s Day thievery. A suspect caught red-handed in the driver's seat, rummaging through a vehicle's glove compartment, thought he could make a quick getaway before dawn, but was quickly stopped in his tracks.
The vigilant citizen's alert swiftly dialed in at 9-1-1, set the stage for what unfolded as a textbook display of prompt police coordination. Having fled the scene before police units descended, the suspect's fleeting hope of anonymity was dashed when Tiburon Police Officers, having received a detailed description, detained the individual. The suspect interrupted in his escape, was held until Central Marin Police took the reins of the investigation.
The arrest was a clear-cut case, thanks to the joint efforts of Central Marin and Tiburon Police Departments. As stated on the Central Marin Police's official Facebook page, "Officers responded to the scene and a broadcast of the incident and suspect description was sent to neighboring agencies. Tiburon Police Officers located and detained the suspect. Central Marin Police Officers responded and took over the investigation, which ultimately led to arresting the individual for his crimes."
