
An 18-year-old man is facing felony robbery charges after being accused of engaging in an armed heist last December in Chicago. According to the Chicago Police Department, Rajuan Barnes-Harvey, residing on the 2200 block of W. Monroe, has been charged with one count of robbery while armed with a firearm.
Barnes-Harvey was nabbed by police officers on Jan. 23, 2024, in Cicero, Illinois, after being pegged as one of the culprits involved in a December 1st mugging of a 47-year-old man, during which the victim's belongings were forcefully seized at gunpoint, local authorities detailed the events leading to his detention not giving much more information regarding the circumstances surrounding the arrest. His apprehension occurred in the 1900 block of W. 51st St. which led to a prompt investigation directly linking him to the incident that happened in the 2600 block of N. Kildare.
Following his arrest, Barnes-Harvey had a detention hearing at the courthouse on 2600 S. California Ave. set for January 25, 2024 - the details of which haven't been publicly disclosed as of yet
While the police department has not released additional details about the case or a possible motive for the crime, the charge against Barnes-Harvey represents a serious allegation, carrying severe penalties under the law.
