A young Chicago man is facing serious time behind bars after cops say he brandished a firearm to violently rob a woman. Louis Robinson, 20, of the 1900 block of E. 71st St., is accused of the gunpoint robbery that occurred in his own neighborhood, according to a Chicago Police Department report.
The incident, which happened just ten minutes before Robinson’s arrest on January 13, 2024, involved a 52-year-old female victim. The Chicago police were quick to respond, managing to apprehend Robinson at approximately 4:03 p.m. in the vicinity of the crime scene. Authorities said it did not take long to identify Robinson as the suspect who allegedly took to forcibly steal property from the woman at gunpoint.
Robinson is being held to answer on a pair of felony charges: one count of robbery with a firearm and another for aggravated robbery indicating the presence of a firearm. These allegations landed him a detention hearing on the same date at 2600 S. California, where he will face the next steps in his legal battle.
The Chicago Police Department has not released any further details about the circumstances surrounding the robbery or about the victim. However, they have recognized the responding officers for their swift action that led to quickly placing Robinson in custody. His case is currently pending as court proceedings commence.
