
Two Chicago men are behind bars following a New Year's Day robbery and assault, as reported by the Chicago Police Department. Kobe Lee, 20, and Felix Lopez, 18, have been slapped with serious charges including robbery and aggravated battery in a public place, after allegedly attacking a 58-year-old man and making off with his belongings.
The incident occurred in the city's 17th District, where the victim sustained injuries during the assault. Lee, of the 3400 block of W. Fulton Blvd., and Lopez, from the 3800 block of W. North Ave., were apprehended shortly after the alleged crime on the 4600 block of N. Kedzie Ave., at around 10:00 p.m. According to the CPD's report, the quick response by law enforcement led to their rapid arrest and, the subsequent charges.
Apart from the charges of robbery and aggravated battery, Lopez faces an additional felony count for possessing a significant quantity of cocaine, which could compound his legal troubles. Both young men have also been issued city ordinance citations, further adding to their compendium of alleged law-breaking activities.
Their detention hearing is scheduled for tomorrow, January 3, at the courthouse on 2600 S. California. Details surrounding the circumstances of their violation have not been fully disclosed, however, the charges indicate a violent confrontation that has left one person with injuries and two young men with an uncertain future.
