Residents of Chicago's 14th and 16th Districts are on high alert following a string of violent incidents. According to a community alert issued by the Chicago Police Department, the area has been plagued by an attempted robbery, a robbery, and an attempted criminal sexual assault. These harrowing events unfolded as victims were approached and then assaulted or robbed by an unidentified offender, who subsequently fled the scene.
The episodes of criminal onslaught are reported to have occurred on December 14th at 5:59 pm on the 2300 block of North Damen Ave, and on January 2nd at 6:20 pm on the 8600 block of West Bryn Mawr Ave. The suspect is described as an African American male, or possibly Hispanic, aged between 20 and 30, standing from 5'07" to 6'00" tall and weighing around 170 to 185 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black puffy coat with a hood, black pants, white or gray shoes, and a black and gray ski mask.
The Chicago Police Department has issued a series of recommendations for community members to bolster their safety. Residents are urged to remain vigilant, alert their neighbors about crimes, and consider the installation of functioning surveillance cameras. Special attention should be paid to suspicious individuals or vehicles that may be loitering around the area.
Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance. "Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of the offender(s) including any vehicle description and license plate information," the Chicago Police Department advises.
