The Chicago Police Department is on the lookout for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that left a 65-year-old man severely injured last month, the department reported.
The incident happened in the early morning hours of December 22, 2023, exactly at 3:42 am, when an elderly pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, on the 9400 block of S. State St. in the city's 6th District. The vehicle in question is described as a 2-door gray 2007 Chevy Cobalt, with the Illinois license plate EG80292IL. After the collision, it was seen fleeing westbound on 95th Street, after passing S Lafayette Ave.
The community alert posted by the CPD asks anyone with information about the vehicle or the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation. The police urge anyone with details that could lead to identifying the driver to contact the Major Accident Investigation Unit.
The victim, whose identity hasn't been disclosed, sustained serious injuries due to the incident. Residents of the area and the community at large are looking for closure and justice, therefore, any assistance can make a significant difference in this case.
