Travelers flying through O'Hare International Airport can now get a taste of Chicago without leaving Terminal 5. Local dining favorites, The Hampton Social and Bar Siena, officially opened their doors to airport goers following a ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Chicago Department of Aviation confirms. The event was dubbed a significant step in showcasing the city's renowned culinary expertise to the world.
Chicago's Mayor Brandon Johnson expressed his enthusiasm at the opening, saying, "It is essential that we drive hospitality and retail growth throughout Chicago, and when diverse local businesses are able to participate in that growth, Chicago wins." This sentiment was echoed by CDA Commissioner Jamie L. Rhee, who highlighted the need to align the airport dining experience with the city's reputation for gastronomic excellence, according to an announcement on the City of Chicago's official website.
The eateries are strategic additions as O'Hare's Terminal 5 nears the conclusion of a hefty $1.3 billion expansion. The facelift includes an increase in capacity and a boost in amenity space, ensuring the culinary newcomers join a growing roster of airport dining options. The Hampton Social, with a coastal-inspired menu, and Bar Siena, known for its laid-back Italian cuisine, are setting the stage for a grander airport hospitality scene.
Brad Parker, CEO and founder of Parker Hospitality shared his excitement about The Hampton Social's new airport venture: "A bustling hub for Chicagoans and travelers from all over the globe, O'Hare felt like the right place to bring The Hampton Social's fun, rejuvenating energy." DineAmic's co-founder Luke Stoioff looked forward to the Bar Siena brand joining other renowned hospitality names at the airport, indicating the strategic collaboration with Chicago Hospitality Partners and O'Hare's team. Celebrity chef and Bar Siena partner Fabio Viviani said, "I love knowing that travelers from all over the world can now enjoy some of my favorite signature dishes while on their way to their next destination."
Among the other renowned figures voicing their contentment was Peter Amaro, CEO of Master Concession Air, who took pride in setting apart the airport dining experience by partnering with the leaders of Chicago's hospitality industry. Further, John Wober, president of minority-owned business Airbrands, regarded the opportunity to open a restaurant at O’Hare as a proud moment for his family and his company.
The expansion and innovation at Terminal 5 ties into the airport's recent accolades, having been named “Favorite Airport Dining” in the Trazee Awards and ranked second-best airport in the United States for foodies by Betway. With upcoming dining spots like Butcher and the Burger and Chick-fil-A, O'Hare's food and beverage offerings, which currently sit at 144 locations, are broadening, making it clear that the city embedded within the airport is keen on presenting a flavorful welcome mat to visitors and denizens alike.
