It was a busy start to the holiday season for local law enforcement as the crime spree in December racked up a total of 79 cases filed, according to the latest Crime Bulletin published by the Colma Police Department. Officers tackled everything from petty thefts to felony arrests in the short span from December 1 to 15.
In a daring theft on December 5, officers responded to a daunting report of a robbery in progress at a local retail establishment. The suspects' spree didn't end there—they were nabbed while attempting another theft at a different retail location, police said. The team of four, composed of two adults and two juveniles, was reported to have stolen an estimated $1,500 worth of merch from the first store, where they also threatened a loss prevention agent with violence via a minor family member.
The adult woman involved in the incident faced serious charges. She was booked for robbery, theft, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, as per the bulletin. The legal system, however, turned her back to the streets the following day as she was released from jail on her recognizance. The status and future of the juveniles remain uncertain. Released to their families, they face pending charges that may tether their fate to the justice system for time to come.
