The Coral Springs Regional Institute of Public Safety (CSRIPS) has bagged the 'Florida Fire Service Training and Education Provider of the Year' award, marking its fifth accolade from the Florida Fire Training Directors Association. The Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department takes pride in the institute's history of excellence, having been recognized previously in 2007, 2011, 2013, and 2017. The award further establishes CSRIPS as a leader in fire service training across the state.
CSRIPS, which has been operational since 1999, emanates a legacy of innovative fire service programs covering diverse areas such as firefighter training, emergency medical technician (EMT) courses, paramedic training, and courses aimed at crucial life-saving techniques like Automated External Defibrillator (AED) usage and 'stop the bleed' programs. Elizabeth Williams, the Operations Manager, along with her staff of over 100 part-time instructors from various departments, has been pivotal to the institute's success.“Their commitment to excellence is evident in the institute’s impressive track record, including a 100% state exam passing rate for the Firefighter I & II Class”, Fire Chief Michael McNally praised, in a statement obtained by Coral Springs Talk.
CSRIPS engages in significant community and fire service projects. Notable among these is the hosting of the annual Job Fair & Career Expo and the Fire Explorer/Cadet Competition, as reported by coralsprings.gov.
The institute has also introduced a mental wellness program titled 'Struggle Well', focusing on the well-being of first responders a demographic often exposed to high-stress environments. According to Coral Springs Talk, this initiative showcases CSRIPS's understanding of the importance of mental health among those tasked with saving lives, aside from their physical and technical preparedness.
