Dallas Welcomes Groundbreaking of Innovative Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital by Prevarian and Voyages Behavioral HealthSource: Google Street View

Dallas is ushering in a new era for mental health as the Prevarian Companies break ground on the first new inpatient psychiatric hospital the city has seen in decades. This initiative, done in partnership with Voyages Behavioral Health, aims to tackle the acute shortage of psychiatric services in the region, providing much-needed care for adolescents, adults, and the elderly. The 72-bed facility, equipped with modern amenities and strategically located next to the Baylor Scott & White University Medical Center, promises to deliver top-notch, specialized psychiatric care.

Not since Timberlawn shut its doors in 2018 has Dallas seen an endeavor of this scale in mental health infrastructure. A void was left, with Medical City Green Oaks Hospital standing as the lone acute psychiatric facility in the area. Although the upcoming Texas Behavioral Health Center slated to open in 2025 will offer some relief, the demand for behavioral health services continues to surge, with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration highlighting Texas's shortfall of facilities relative to its population. Voyages Behavioral Health's new hospital expects to begin addressing this dire gap, according to AP News.

Paige Smith, Vice President of Growth and Development at Voyages Behavioral Health, voiced her commitment to bringing these essential services to her Dallas community, where she has both lived and worked for many years. In her efforts, she's driven by the tangible struggles she has witnessed that patients and their families endure as they navigate the troubled waters of obtaining acute psychiatric services, she said, as per PR.com.

Along with the promise of exceptional downtown Dallas views, the new hospital is designed for both functionality and comfort with the innovative use of an existing building, which will now house a medical facility as opposed to its initial mid-rise office purpose. Additional facilities like a new gymnasium and adequate parking space betray Prevarian and Voyages' commitment to providing not just healthcare, but an environment conducive to overall wellness and healing. "This new hospital will change lives," espoused Allan Brown, Partner with Prevarian, as reported by AP News.

Upon its anticipated completion in 2025, this project will mark the third Texas-based facility under the Voyages Behavioral Health name, further solidifying its footprint in the state. With its sister locations in Sugar Land and Conroe already serving the communities, the Dallas hospital stands as a beacon of progress for mental health care in the state, set to significantly impact lives and foster recovery through state-of-the-art services and a dedication to compassionate care.
