The Arlington MLK Celebration Committee had to call an audible for its 2024 MLK Advancing the Dream Gala, as it has just been announced that educator and author Dennis Kimbro will step in as the keynote speaker. Originally slated speaker, civil rights activist Joe Madison, had to bow out due to health concerns, leaving a gap swiftly filled by Kimbro. "The Arlington MLK Celebration Committee, Inc., sends its care and support to Madison during this time," per the City of Arlington, Texas.
Kimbro, a frequent voice among business speakers and an awarded professor at Clark Atlanta University School of Business Administration, has written five books, including "Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice," and "The Wealth Choice; Success Secrets of Black Millionaires." His work is said to deliver insights on peak performances to his followers across the globe, and his new role at the gala is expected to be no different.
The annual event, located within the Bluebonnet Ballroom at The University of Texas at Arlington, will offer more than just a speech. Set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, it features dinner, entertainment, and both scholarship and award announcements, with NBC 5’s Vince Sims at the helm as emcee. Tickets to the soirée, catered to individual attendees or sponsored tables of eight, are available for purchase at the UTA Tickets website.
