A brutal crime spree that terrorized Duncanville, Texas, has come to a conclusive end as Garrett Shay Hamilton faces a life sentence for a string of violent incidents, including two murders and five robberies. The Duncanville Police Department released information this past Wednesday stating Hamilton pleaded guilty to the charges.
It was the robbery at a Wells Fargo ATM on November 2, 2022, that set off the investigation. The suspect, later positively identified as Hamilton, brazenly used the victim's credit card at a nearby Walmart. This critical mistake allowed detectives to quickly ascertain a clearer image, leading them to issue an aggravated robbery warrant. And while they moved to swiftly capture Hamilton, it emerged that he had already to inexorably stain his hands with the blood of more crimes, having committed two additional robberies and a murder in Cedar Hill on the same day, not to mention two other robberies and another murder the preceding week.
With Hamilton in custody, prosecutors worked alongside Duncanville detectives to weave together the strands of his violent rampage. The partnership between local law enforcement and the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office proved effective as they presented a formidable case. The resolution of this case saw not only Hamilton receiving his life sentence on Tuesday but also a 25-year concurrent sentence for his involvement in the aggravated robberies.
