In a bid to swing some hometown advantage for his beloved Detroit Lions, rap icon Eminem has taken to social media with a plea to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. Pulling on the strings of music and sports, the Grammy-winning artist asked Stafford, "Can you just let us have this one?" a shout-out to the signal-caller's history with the Lions and their first playoff game in seven years.
The face-off between the Lions and Rams is set at Ford Field, and it's not just any playoff game. It’s a homecoming of sorts for Stafford, who was once the arm of the Detroit team. Eminem, a Detroit stalwart and fervent supporter made his request through a video released by NBC's Sunday Night Football account. "Stafford, what'd I say? You owe me this favor bro," he said, with a callback to his halftime performance at the Rams' Super Bowl LVI win, as reported by The Detroit News.
Eminem's passion for the Lions was further evidenced when he visited the team's training camp, a session made famous in the 2022 season of HBO's Hard Knocks. Eminem has been hitched to Detroit since his teens, soaring from its rap battles to superstardom while always repping the Motor City, as Sportskeeda reported.
The stakes for both teams are high, with the Lions chasing their first playoff success since 1991, and the Rams on a tear, winning six of their last seven games. Stafford, for his part, played a key role in this turnaround with 16 touchdown throws and a series of high-completion performances.
