
Things quickly escalated from a routine traffic stop to an arrest in Fairfield this past Sunday. An officer from the Fairfield Police Department was conducting traffic enforcement when he pulled over a vehicle with two men inside at Parkway Gardens near Del Paso Court. It was reported on the department's Facebook page that the stop occurred around 2:02 pm.
Upon a records check, it was found that the driver was on probation. The situation took a turn for the worse when the cops determined to perform a search of the vehicle and a weapons pat down on the passenger, who had prior to denied carrying a firearm. This revealed a semi-automatic pistol tucked in the passenger’s waistband, contrary to his earlier claim.
In addition to the gun, officers unearthed several bags of marijuana inside the car. Following these discoveries, the Fairfield Police Department's officers, identified as Del Monte and Turner, proceeded to secure the firearm and detain both individuals without incident.
Subsequently, a 19-year-old man from Fairfield was taken into custody, facing numerous charges related to the possession of a stolen firearm. Moreover, his companion, a 23-year-old man, did not escape consequence either. He was cited for multiple open container and vehicle code violations.
