A Wisconsin man with former ties to the Florida Keys is behind bars following his indictment on child pornography distribution charges. Eric Edward Cadogan, who used the moniker "livelife4fun69," was apprehended after allegations of uploading and sharing illicit materials through a social media messaging platform, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida.
During court hearings, it was revealed that the 39-year-old offered to sell child pornography, claiming to possess "100 of videos n pictures". Cadogan, arranging a deal with what turned out to be an undercover agent online, indicated that he had partaken in sexually explicit acts with minors. With the trial set to kick off on Feb. 20, 2024, Cadogan could be staring down a minimum of a five-year federal prison sentence, that could extend up to two decades if convicted.
The prosecution of Cadogan falls under the umbrella of Project Safe Childhood, a national campaign initiated by the Department of Justice in 2006 aimed squarely at battling child sexual abuse and exploitation. The initiative underscores an aggressive pursuit by law enforcement to apprehend perpetrators and deliver the due shelter to the young victims. Individuals with knowledge of suspected child abuse are urged to contact the authorities at 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit the FBI’s tip webpage.
Markenzy Lapointe, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Jeffrey B. Veltri headed the announcement of the charges. The case against Cadogan is prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine W. Guthrie. While the indictment against the alleged offender sets the case in motion, the justice system maintains the presumption of innocence until guilt is established in the court of law.
