
Forney, Texas has been rocked by violence after two separate shootings occurred on Saturday, stirring unease among residents. According to the Forney Police Department, the first incident took place in the early hours of Jan. 6, with no injuries. Gunshots rang out in the 100 block of Wandering Way, as captured by security cameras showing multiple individuals firing at a residence, according to inForney.com.
The second incident, occurring later that same day just before 9:30 p.m. near Lonesome Dove Lane, resulted in one person being injured. Upon arrival, officers found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds, who was then transported to the hospital in stable condition. Leaving the scene and heading north on Trailhouse Lane, two suspects possibly wearing dark-colored hoodies and grey sweatpants were spotted, as WFAA reported.
In response to the evening's violence, Forney Police warned residents of a significant police presence, advising locals to remain indoors if possible. A helicopter circled the area as law enforcement worked to piece together the details of the shooting. "Please avoid the area and remain in your residence if possible," read a part of the department's statement, "If you witness any activity you believe is suspicious, report it immediately to the Forney Police Department via 911," as also detailed by inForney.com.
The investigations into both shootings are being conducted by the Forney Police Department and the Kaufman County Street Crimes Task Force. "Officers are still conducting the investigation, including speaking with witnesses," the department said. Intelligence suggested the suspect had left the area later, adding, "Individuals are still encouraged to remain vigilant but it is believed to be safe to exit your residence should you need to," further reported by inForney.com. The identity of the injured victim from the second shooting has not been disclosed.
