Fort Worth's LVT Rise Center is rolling out a program that could take care of that, without the handcuffs. On Jan. 20, residents with legal headaches can roll up to 8201 Calmont Ave, for a bit of forgiveness and a shot at a fresh start. The "Court in the Community/Warrant Forgiveness" event offers a solution to outstanding citations and a host of other concerns from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., according to the City of Fort Worth.

This isn’t just about dodging the prison, it's a chance to wipe the slate clean with the Fort Worth Municipal Court, and if you’re lucky enough to snag one of the 120 walk-up appointments—you have gotta show up early though, last check-in hits at 9 a.m.—it’s an all-access pass to job skills training, legal aid, and help with your bills, all under one roof. Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas will be dishing out advice on civil matters from family law to bankruptcies. At the same time, Goodwill North Central Texas sets up shop offering employment assistance and tips on nailing that interview, without digging into your pockets.

It's a big deal that Fort Worth Municipal Court is willing to give a break to those with warrants, letting them sort things out without fearing a pair of cuffs. The "Safe Harbor Court" initiative is part of this, assuring that people can shake hands with justice on friendlier terms, and might even score a fine reduction if their wallets are thin, as explained in one of the event videos.

With an eye on cleaning up outstanding cases and making the new year shine, Court Director William Rumuly shared with the city's news page, “We are excited to kick off the 2024 year with our next Court in Community-Warrant Forgiveness event at the LVT Rise Community Center.” He’s all about helping people put their best foot forward and is urging anyone in a legal tangle to get in touch, “so we can guide them how to resolve them and help make 2024 a great year”, as per the City of Fort Worth.
