Fort Worth residents, your garbage will be sitting one more day than usual. The city's Solid Waste services announced a schedule change-up for this week's trash collection, all due to recent icy grips on the roads. Following the weather-induced pause, curbside service for garbage, recycling, yard, and bulk waste will kick off a day late, starting Tuesday, Jan. 16, as cited by the City of Fort Worth.

The shuffling means Monday's trash will be picked up on Tuesday, and the rest of the week follows suit with a one-day lag. So, if you were supposed to drag your cans out on Tuesday, don't bother until Wednesday, and so on until Saturday, Jan. 20 when Friday's collections get hauled away. As temperatures continue to hover below freezing, the city is urging folks to exercise caution when taking bins to the curb by the recommended 7 a.m. deadline.

Cody Whittenburg, the Environmental Services interim director, highlighted the commitment to customer service amidst the chill. “Offering exceptional customer service is critical to all services we offer in the community,” he stated. “While winter weather creates challenges, I appreciate our greater solid waste team and all of our residential customers for their flexibility in finding a new path forward”, as per the City of Fort Worth.

Fort Worth's drop-off stations, the Environmental Collection Center, and other city facilities will be back to business as usual from Tuesday. If those online details leave you with questions, the city's call center is on standby from Tuesday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 817-392-1234. Don't let the cold mess with your trash day; stay informed and stay warm.
