The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, a longstanding tradition in Texas, paid tribute to military members and first responders at Monday's show, with free entry for active and retired armed services members and their families, in a heartwarming display of gratitude for those who serve to protect, as FOX 4 News reported.
The recognition included a special ceremony for the brave first responders who sprang into action following the Sandman Hotel explosion on January 8, where they rescued numerous individuals from the blast, saving lives although 21 people were injured and one restaurant employee was left with serious burns. "It was our opportunity to lift up those men and women from the fire department, the police department, city marshals, MedStar," Matt Brockman with the stock show relayed, revealing the depths of their heroics reached far and wide, as per FOX 4 News.
As the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo heads into its final week, a variety of events and shows including cattle and Junior Steer showcases, are occurring daily, in addition to a ProRodeo Tournament, said to be the event where champions are made and excitement rules, with a $1.2 million payoff on the line, as documented by Fort Worth Business Press.
Among the featured activities for the remaining days are Texas Tech Day, Junior Steer Show, and Cook Children’s Day cook children's day where half the proceeds go towards supporting the neonatal intensive care unit at Cook Children’s Hospital, the event not only celebrates the spirit of competition but also puts forth a hand to those in need. Seniors are in luck too, with discounted admission on Fridays, proof that the event casts a wide net of welcome for all ages and walks of life.
