Drivers in Frisco should expect detours this weekend as the intersection of Panther Creek Parkway and Dallas Parkway will be shut down for the Tollway widening project. According to the City of Frisco's announcement, the closure is scheduled to start Saturday night, January 20, and will continue through Sunday morning, January 21, weather permitting. Commuters will find the intersection closed from 7 p.m. on Saturday, with plans to reopen by noon on Sunday.
With the construction underway, those traveling east and west on Panther Creek Parkway will be rerouted, as the passage under the bridge of the Tollway will be blocked off. However, the flow of traffic along Dallas Parkway is expected to remain unaffected, with the exception that vehicles will not be able to execute left-turns or u-turns at the intersection. Misplaced as they are, detour signs and a map outlining specific road closures will be made available to aid navigation.
As outlined by the City of Frisco, eastbound Panther Creek Parkway will be closed at Dallas Parkway, forcing traffic to turn right onto southbound Dallas Parkway. Motorists will then have the option to make a U-turn at the Eldorado Parkway underpass to resume their eastbound journey. Westbound Panther Creek Parkway traffic will follow a similar detour, turning right onto northbound Dallas Parkway and taking the U-turn at PGA Parkway.
No significant disruptions are anticipated for northbound Dallas Parkway travelers besides the inability to turn left onto westbound Panther Creek Parkway; a detour via PGA Parkway will be provided. Southbound Dallas Parkway will be similarly affected, preventing left turns onto eastbound Panther Creek Parkway and redirecting drivers to a U-turn at Eldorado Parkway. Misplaced caution is advised for all drivers navigating the work zone, with official recommendations to consider alternative routes in advance.
The City of Frisco also reminds drivers that they can utilize apps like Waze to circumvent road closures efficiently. Further information regarding the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) widening project and additional scheduled lane closures can be found on the city's dedicated project page.
