Two popular Mexican restaurant chains from the Valley, Frutilandia and Taqueria Factory, have joined forces to create dual-concept stores that deliver a blend of signature desserts and savory street foods under one roof. According to ABC15, these shared spaces operated by the Garfio family will begin to serve up a treat for the East Valley taste buds, launching several locations during the year 2024.

Frutilandia, known for its Mexican and Latino-inspired sweet treats opened its doors in 2006 and since then has spread its delight across several Valley spots. Taqueria Factory, on the other hand, launched in 2022 and has carved a niche for itself in Chandler with a lineup that features tacos, burritos, and micheladas. Both concepts will come together, their first joint venture is set to invite patrons in Tempe starting January 20, reported Phoenix Business Journal.

The kickoff location will take place outside the Arizona Mills Mall, where the two establishments will occupy the former 5 & Diner space at 5025 S. Arizona Mills Circle, revamped with a 3,200 square-foot building, adding value with a new drive-thru, a margarita bar, and al fresco dining. "We are excited to premiere this unique, dual-concept restaurant in the vibrant community of Tempe" Gamaliel Garfio, the co-founder of both restaurants, expressed enthusiasm about the merged dining experience. "By combining the best of both worlds with Frutilandia and Taqueria Factory, we aim to provide our guests with an enhanced food and beverage experience in a one-stop location," was the sentiment captured by Phoenix Business Journal.

The establishment will be overseen by franchisees Briana Garfio and Edward Valdez, keeping it in the family fold, and with an eye on future growth, the Garfios are already eyeing existing Frutilandia locations to inject them with the Taqueria Factory's zest, including a rebrand of the Frutilandia spot at 351 N. Country Club Drive in Mesa, that will transition into a dual-concept store during the first quarter of 2024 and then another at 1011 S. Gilbert Road, additional insights provided by Phoenix Business Journal. The Garfio family's business savvy blends the essence of Mexican cuisine's diverse flavors harmoniously, offering a diverse culinary trip in a single stop, while perhaps ambitiously, redefining fast-casual dining in the East Valley.
