In a Fulton County courtroom drama, Trump cohorts Harrison Floyd and John Eastman find themselves wrangling with the courts, as they demand access to a trove of 2020 election records. Floyd, once the director of Black Voices for Trump, and Eastman, a former attorney for Trump, face a series of motions, with some pushing to dismiss the case against them outright, according to FOX5 Atlanta.
Their legal play comes as both men have been indicted for their supposed roles in harassing election workers and pressuring for false election fraud claims. Floyd’s lawyer, Chris Kachouroff, set the courtroom abuzz asking the court to release digital copies of election materials, not the physical documents that are now two years old. "We're looking for a digital production. I'm not looking for new copies of what was in existence in 2020," Kachouroff said, in a courtroom exchange obtained by FOX5 Atlanta. Meanwhile, the sheer bulk of records requested could mean tens of thousands of hours of work for the Fulton County Superior Court’s Clerk's office.
Offering a procedural cliffhanger, Judge Scott McAfee requested from Floyd's team, and the clerk's office a revised subpoena, one that would mull over the time and costs involved, sparking a two-week deadline for action. All this unfolds as the prosecution led by District Attorney Fani Willis amps up for a proposed August 2024 trial, as reported by 11Alive.
