Galveston's dining scene is heating up with a slew of new eateries that offer everything from upscale French-inspired dishes to beachside tacos. As noted by the Houston Chronicle, recent openings such as The Fancy at Hotel Lucine and Tequila Rock Kitchen and Cantina are bringing a fresh taste to the island city.
At Hotel Lucine's The Fancy, patrons can savor the opulence of French cuisine with dishes like gulf snapper with potato scales and striped bass ratatouille. Introduced in November, this fine dining establishment not only caters to the palate but also to the soul with its elegant offerings of wine, spirits, and inventive cocktails, such as the mezcal negroni. Meanwhile, Tequila Rock is making waves with a Mexican twist on beachside dining, boasting specials like $2 off taco plates on Taco Tuesday and complimentary margaritas with entree purchases on Thirsty Thursdays.
Old Oleander presents a curated wine list, charcuterie platters, and deli sandwiches on The Strand, with a picturesque view of the Galveston channel. In contrast, Doc Holliday's Roadhouse infuses a bit of Western flair into the Seawall with its decor, statues of cowboys, large burgers, and beer on tap, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.
Pirate Island Bar and Grill eatery offers a unique blend of Vietnamese and Asian fusion with banh mi, egg rolls, spinach artichoke dip, and pho, certain to please adventurous eaters. Redfish Pool Bar, on the other hand, encourages diners to "swim, eat and get sloshed" in no particular order, according to a recent Houston Press article.
As the summer sun beats down, locals, and tourists alike will find plenty of new plates to explore, from the steaks and gulf seafood at the upcoming Number 13 to the New Orleans staples at Gumbo Diner. Add in The Waterman Restaurant's tequila shrimp and Board Game Island's eclectic mix of coffee and comfort food, and there's no shortage of reasons to step off the beach and into the rich gastronomic tapestry that Galveston has woven.
