Garland residents, mark your calendars for the city's annual State of the City event, scheduled for Feb. 13. The bash is set to take place at The Atrium, located at 300 N. Fifth St., and is open to all at absolutely no cost.
The evening, beginning at 6 p.m. gives locals a chance to rub elbows with city staffers, providing a platform to learn about the workings of various departments through interactive booths. With the open house format, attendees have free rein to inquire about municipal projects, services, and any other burning questions they might have before Mayor Scott LeMay delivers his address.
Mayor LeMay is expected to spotlight Garland's progress over the past year from 7 to 7:30 p.m. His speech will touch on the milestones reached through the 2019 bond program projects, and public safety initiatives, and give a sneak peek into the plans for 2024. The mayor will also take this moment to bestow the Make Your Mark Award, which recognizes individuals or organizations that significantly contribute to the community, according to the City of Garland.
Following the mayor's address, the open house will resume until closing at 8 p.m., allowing folks to further engage with city representatives and discuss Garland's future endeavors. In a year where community and progress stand at the forefront, this event embodies an ideal opportunity for Garlandites to connect with those steering the ship and have their voices heard in the city's journey forward.
