The Chicago Police Department has confirmed the arrest of 34-year-old Genesis Silva in connection with the June 2023 murder of a 33-year-old woman. Silva faces charges of first-degree murder and a felony count which indicates a strong probability of death or injury according to a CPD press release. The alleged crime took place in the 2000 block of N. Kimball, within the 14th District of Chicago, Illinois.
Awaiting a detention hearing today at the 2600 S. California courthouse, the suspect was arrested on January 17, 2024. Found dead from stab wounds last summer, the victim's case has remained an active investigation until Silva's recent identification as her alleged murderer. While no additional details are forthcoming from law enforcement, the charges suggest a grim resolution to a case that has loomed over the community.
The area of the arrest, located in the 2700 block of S. California, is near the location where the woman's lifeless body was discovered months prior. This proximity has not been officially linked by authorities to the motive or circumstances surrounding Silva's alleged actions.
