Authorities in Gilbert have arrested a second teenager in connection with a string of violent attacks that rattled the community over a year ago, as reported by azfamily.com. The latest bust saw a 17-year-old cuffed for their alleged role in the beating of another teen outside a residence near Higley and Riggs roads in November 2022, an incident that wasn't reported until early January this year.
The unidentified minor's arrest follows closely on the heels of Kyler Renner, 18, Gage Garrison, 19, and Jack Woods, 17, whose arrests were part of the same crackdown on teen violence in the area. Woods has been charged as an adult, according to information shared by the Gilbert Police Department. Renner and his alleged accomplices are believed connected to a brutal parking garage attack near Vaughn Avenue and Gilbert Road, which came to light when surveillance footage surfaced, putting the case back on detectives' radars after initially going cold due to a lack of leads.
In addition to charges of aggravated assault, Renner is facing drug-related charges following a raid at his home, where his father, Travis Renner, 50, and 20-year-old Kiara Holsapple, were also arrested on drug possession charges, according to a detailed report by azfamily.com. The police emphasized that the narcotics discovery was an unrelated incident to the violent teen crimes they were investigating.
Notably, Renner and Garrison appeared in court where they faced serious charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with Renner seeing a hefty $100,000 secured bond and Garrison's a little lower at $75,000. The emergence of these violent events has brought to light a pattern of activity in the area, with multiple arrests linking back to the same group of youths and incidents including the Gilbert In-N-Out assault, where the location ties back to Renner's home, which lies roughly one mile from the fast-food outlet.
