A routine traffic stop in Gilroy led to the arrest of a driver packing a loaded gun and drugs, according to local authorities. The unnamed male driver was pulled over for a vehicle code violation yesterday when Gilroy Police Department officers recognized an active no-bail warrant out for his arrest.
The man's previous felony conviction prohibited him from legally possessing any firearms or ammunition, yet officers discovered much more than just a traffic infraction. The search of the vehicle, conducted due to the driver being on searchable probation, revealed a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, fully loaded and ready to unleash harm potentially, stashed in the center console. Accompanying this weapon were over 150 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of suspected Methamphetamine, turning a traffic stop into a significant criminal bust.
In a post on the department's Instagram, the Gilroy Police showcased the seizure. They stated, "This is just another example of the great police work our dedicated officers do on a daily basis to keep our community safe." The department highlighted their commitment to public safety and ongoing vigilance in the face of criminal activities plaguing the streets.
