Glendale's own Jeremy Ware has certainly made his mark, quite literally backward and on a ball. Ware, who shattered not one, but two Guinness World Records in 2023 does not seem to have an off button. According to 12 News, Ware nailed the 'farthest basketball shot made backwards' at an astonishing 85 feet, 5 inches and dominated the 'most squats on a Swiss ball in one minute' with 37 squats. With his leg ink proclaiming "Hard work pays off," it's clear this is a man who lives by his leg.

Opening the record books wasn't planned for Ware; it started with his flair for the dramatic on the court. "I used to play college basketball and got really good at doing backward half-court trick shots," Ware told 12 News. Inspired by Denver Nuggets' SuperMascot Rocky, his backward shots became more than just a pastime.

While Jeremy Ware twisted and squatted his way into the world records, the Adelaide International was busy breaking some records of its own. The tennis tournament, known for its top-notch players and fan experience, surged to new heights with a crowd of 51,117 turning up. This figure is the largest seen since 2020, proving that when it comes to slams and volleys, Adelaide is where it's at.

Back on the topic of world records, Ware is eyeing his next targets, keeping mum on the specifics. "I'm really big on standing on my word and if it comes out of my mouth, I want to get it done," he said in his interview with 12 News.
