In a grim discovery just days before the New Year, Haltom City Police Department officers responded to a deadly shooting at The Oaks at Jane Lane Apartments on Saturday evening, December 30, where they found an adult male victim dead from a gunshot wound. The incident that cast a shadow over the holiday season occurred at approximately 7:17 P.M., according to the Haltom City Police Department.

Swift action by detectives and crime scene personnel followed, as they took charge of the investigation which led to a quick turn of events—the shooter, reportedly known to the victim, came forward with a confession. He has been arrested and is now facing murder charges though his identity was withheld pending arraignment. The statement confirmed that this was an isolated incident, and reassured locals there is no longer a threat to the community, however, the identity of both the perpetrator and the victim remains under wraps until due proceedings and next of kin notification are respectively completed.
